The next step in our design process is to add some text to our page.
HTML text is a bit different from regular text in PhotoImpact in the
sense that it will allow us to place live links to other web pages
and give us a bit more flexibility as far as formatting. Another great
thing about putting text on a web page in PI is that we can drag it
any where on our page.
1. Open the mysite.ufo you have been working on.
2. From the Web Menu, pick the HTML Text Object tool.
3. A new dialog box opens like the one below.
This text box looks similar to the
one used for normal text editing in PhotoImpact but is more
tailored to web pages.
If you have ever used a word processor, most of the options
here you are familiar with. Two exceptions are the hyperlink
icon (left of the Help button) and the background color options.
The hyperlink option lets us assign a URL to parts of our text,
and the background option allows us to put a background color
behind the text. |
|
4. Uncheck the background box if it is checked.
5. Leave the other settings as is.
6. Type the following paragraph in the text box, or copy and paste.
You've just stumbled into my brand new graphics site!
This page, and all the graphics were done
with a great program from Ulead Systems called PhotoImpact. Although
PhotoImpact is primarily an image editor, it also makes easy work
of creating simple web pages and dynamite web graphics. You will be
amazed at how simple it is to create your web site with no knowledge
of the HTML language...PhotoImpact does it for you!
This site will showcase all the graphics
I've created in this great program and I hope you enjoy browsing through
them. I'd love your feedback on this site, or if or if you just want
to say hi, email me.
Thanks for visiting!
7. After entering your text, highlight the word Ulead
and check the link icon. In the URL box that pops up, type http://www.ulead.com
8. Highlight the words email me, click the link icon
again and type the following in the URL box: mailto: followed
by your email address.
Ex. mailto:myemail@mysite.com
9. When you are done, click OK.
The text you just created now has a transform box around it and you
can resize the box to your liking. PI will treat the text box like
any other object, so you can drag it around or move it up or down
in the layer manager. For our purposes, let's move it down to the
bottom layer.
Choose the pick tool and click on "send to back"
on the attribute bar. Save your page as a ufo for use later. Now we'll
add an image to our site that we get from outside of PhotoImpact.
