Javascript and DHTML (Dynamic HTML) can
add fun and useful interactivity to your site. Animated
buttons, menus and text are some examples of effects that
can be created with Javascript and DHTML. Knowledge of how
to write script and DHTML is usually essential to create
such effects, but the programs below take the hard work
off you so you can concentrate on the visual aspect of your
design.
Most effects are developed for a single use. A script
builder for scrolling text is only good for that one effect.
There aren't many packages that allow you to create different
effects, but I've scrubbed the
'Net to find a few that do. Most of the packages below
are either freeware or shareware and most are fairly inexpensive
if you decide to purchase them.
Ulead Menu
Applet : This is a great application for creating
Java menus that either pop-up or slide. Customization
is endless as you can import your own graphics into the
program. The program provides the ability to add links
to your menu as well as create menus that can be used
in a frame-based web page. Read the review here.
Instant
Rollover Maker: This online program makes it easy
to create great looking rollover buttons. Simply type
in the information and it will generate a script for you
to add to your web page.
Javascript
Developer : A small, but effective program that creates
some cool effects like flipping images, special links,
prompts and much more.
Ter-Net
Smart Builder : This is a very cool program that generates
DHTML navigational aids such as expandable menu trees,
pull down menus, draggable elements and more. The code
generated works in all browsers and and the program uses
a WYSIWYG interface. 30 Day demo.
Javascript
Tools : Add drop down lists, clocks, timers, animated
buttons, a search utility and more to your site with this
easy to use tool from Sausage Software, makers of Hot
Dog Pro, a long standing HTML editor.
Text
Effects : Another great tool from Sausage that creates
text that jumps, stretches, waves and scrolls. More effects
included.
